Questions, answered

Straight answers about PT-141.

See all questions

What is PT-141?

PT-141 is bremelanotide, a peptide that acts on the brain pathways involved in sexual desire rather than on blood flow. Brand bremelanotide (Vyleesi) is FDA-approved only for premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder. RULE Longevity offers compounded PT-141 for women or men, which is not FDA-approved.

Does PT-141 work for men?

PT-141 has been studied in men in small trials, but use in men is off-label and it is not FDA-approved for men. Some men use it for desire and arousal, and results vary. Your provider decides whether it fits your health history.

How is PT-141 different from Viagra?

Viagra (sildenafil) increases blood flow, while PT-141 acts on desire pathways in the brain. Viagra is FDA-approved for erectile dysfunction, and compounded PT-141 is not FDA-approved. Your provider can explain which, if either, fits your goals.

What are the side effects of PT-141?

The most common side effects are nausea, flushing, headache and injection site reactions. It can also cause a temporary rise in blood pressure, so it is not right for everyone with heart disease or uncontrolled blood pressure. Your provider reviews your history first.

How much does PT-141 cost?

The RULE Longevity PT-141 program is $249 per month, with shipping included. A licensed provider must review your online visit and decide that it is appropriate first.
